Anyone who's known me for awhile would know of my interest and minimal skill in baking. How I'd love to just stay home and learn to be a homebaker!
When I got home this morning, I passed by my grandfather's pile of newspapers right outside his door. It was The Philippine Star's Entertainment section right on top of that pile. I checked out Butch Francisco's column thinking how I remember reading a similarly themed article from him from a long time ago. Anyway, down the page there was an ad for a culinary school. This one was not in any of the culinary schools I researched about before.
I checked out the Global Academy's website and there found their course listing. It was nice of them to already include the schedule of classes, as well as the tuition fees.
The amount is still beyond any money I have, but I think it's more affordable and you finish the course in less time than you would if you enroll in other, more popular, culinary schoos in the country. They have the Certificate in Baking that I am most interested in. Altough, the Grand Diploma in Culinary, Baking and Pastry Arts also looks interesting if I really wanted to finally learn to cook. But for what I really need, the Diploma in Baking is enough.
They also have recreational courses that include an 8-session course on baking. Maybe that's actually sufficient for me?
We'll see. Formally studying baking isn't on my plate for this year. I've already decided to go through my beloved Art & Soul of Baking to hone my baking skills on my own first. Maybe next year, or the year after that, will see me going to culinary school.
